Silver Thistle Pipes and Drums is searching for a new rehearsal location

Sadly, the band lost its indoor/outdoor practice location during the Covid-19 pandemic, so we’ve been camping out at the Northwest Recreation Center. This outdoor location is great when the weather is favorable and the days are longer. While we have just survived the summer heat, we really do need a location that provides indoor and outdoor space, as it also helps us provide lessons in a more effective manner.

In the past we’ve relied on the generosity of various organizations who have provided facilities either free of charge or for the band playing for various functions. We’d prefer to keep it that way if at all possible, as most of the funds we raise through performances and donations are used to support travel to band contests. These are central to our educational mission and are often out-of-state because Texas has always had relatively few options. An additional fallout of Covid is that many organizations are now charging for facilities at levels that we simply cannot afford.

If you are an organization that would like to engage with us or know of potential options please let us know. Bear in mind that we are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, so donations of space may have tax advantages. We are also open to linking with other non-profit organizations.
