Silver Thistle Pipes and Drums is a non-profit 501(c) (3) educational and cultural organization based in Austin, Texas for more than 30 years. Silver Thistle is dedicated to promotion of the historically renowned Scottish Highland bagpiping and Scottish-style drumming through its educational component, youth program, traditional performances and competitive status.  Its educational component and youth program is comprised of more than 15 aspiring pipers and drummers in the Central Texas region.

Silver Thistle also maintains two competitive bands at the Grade III and Grade IV levels, respectively. Both bands are sanctioned competitive members of the Southwest region of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA), attending regional, national and international competitions annually.

To maintain a presence in the Austin community and positive impact in Central Texas, Silver Thistle needs substantial financial support. The organization's resources are raised through special events, performances and fundraisers.

The band is currently looking for additional support through sponsorship opportunities and donations to fulfill its 2008 wish list. Donations will support its top three needs:

1. Equipment
2. Competitive Travel Costs
3. Uniforms
4. Trip to the World Pipe Band Championship in Scotland
